Se ci sono due cose che mi piacciono sono la musica surf e il formato 7" e, nel caso dei Docteur Legume, le due cose coincidono in maniera perfetta.

Innanzitutto un'avvertenza i Docteur Legume sono in realtà un one man band,e più precisamente Massimiliano Bocchio, uno dei miei pazzi preferiti visto che si imbarca in questa mirabile impresa suonando (egregiamente) chitarra, basso, batteria, organo e synth ottenendo risultati che non esagererei a definire sbalordenti.

Quanto il nostro ci offre sono tre brani di surf strumentale da brividi divisi in due sul lato a la futuribile "Cheeky blues" e la suadente "2001: cerveau salade" e uno sul lato b "Vixen vampiria", suite di riverberata languidità.

Oltre al lato musicale,come già accennato assolutamente valido, questo singolo si avvale di una splendida veste grafica che non può non attrarre chi, come me, ha un'insana passione per i sixties e per gli z-movies.

Docteur Legume va alla conquista del mondo, se siete persone assennate non fate nulla per impedirglielo.

Cheeky Blues

Tweaky watery delayed electronics introduce this big twang guitar stinger. generally in the go-go whammy bar corral, "Cheeky Blues" features tortured guitar fronting a rock solid rhythm section. As the electronics pan about, the song comes to an end. Intense and fun.

2001 Cerveau Salade

One foot in spaghetti western via tremolo twang, one in surf via shimmering chords, and a great bass and drum backing. "2001 Cerveau Salade" has a friendly melody line and intense sound. This is a superb piece of music. Engaging and memorable, and well suited for the open road.

Vixen Vampira
Liquid chords, dangerous curves, and drama haunt "Vixen Vampira." It's structured like classic spaghetti, sports intense tone, and flows in an undulating manner, all the while being nervously edgy and spooky. The Theremin creates a sci-fi feeling, while the muted surf guitar cries out for the curl. Really cool!

This is a fine set of slightly disturbed surf-space-Euro instrumentals.

Docteur Legume Et Les Surfwerks have produced a consistently strong set of songs in their own unique style.

Track by Track Review:

Raumpatrouille Surf ****
Great whammy dip notes open this fine instro. A classic surf beat and bass line below a cool melody riff that's a bit middle eastern, but not overly. The break is a bit jammy, but "Raumpatrouille Surf" is overall very nice.
Bienvenue A La Maison Meduse ***
"Bienvenue A La Maison Meduse" has a haunted European feel to it. The guitar lines employ long whammy chords in the European style. Echoed guitar completes the picture, with electro warbles going wild at the end.
Madchen Mit Rum ***
Initially structured in a classic AABA progression style, "Madchen Mit Rum" moves into other territory that's reminiscent of Alabama's Penetrators. It ends in a solo drum pattern that slowly rolls into the sunset.

Bouncy and fun.
Sigmund [La Chose Souple] ****
This is really cool. Muted guitars, a very cool melody line, and excellent spunk. The break is sort of island in the sun, and the juicy reverb kicks add charm. A drum solo breaks the mood, but not the enjoyment.

"Sigmund [La Chose Souple]" is just plain cool.
Amoxicilline Rider ****
Island chords flow gently out as "Amoxicilline Rider" begins. "Amoxicilline Rider" is moody, hinting at desert scenes and desperation. The main idea here may be fairly simple, but it sure grows on you. Cool track.
Charlie Touche ****
A bit of stereo typical Asian melody-isms and crunchy reverb crashes, along with a double picked lead line with significant charm, give "Charlie Touche" an engaging sound. This eventually gets pretty intense.
Phibes & Vulnavia - Just Married!! ****
With a backtrack that's steeped in "Jack The Ripper," this track verges on menacing. Its intense echoed guitar creates tension. Vibrato eventually come in, as does churning electro whirl. "Phibes & Vulnavia - Just Married!!" grew on my over time. I like it!
Horny Lava Lamp ***
"Horny Lava Lamp" is swimming in charm and reverb crashes, along with stinging whammy. At first, I thought it seemed forced, but soon I was a fan. Great reverb crashes throughout.
7th Planet [Reboot] ***

Great drums and Euro guitar sound. Warbly Theremin adds a weird edge, which is wholly appropriate for the title. Spacy in a Ventures kind of way, and just loaded with whammy, but it's the percussion I most like.
Die 1000 Wellen Das Mr. Mabuse ****
A very cool rhythm track backs long whammy chords with an island feeling. "Die 1000 Wellen Das Mr. Mabuse" is a bit spooky, and sci-fi edged via long whistling keyboard notes. The Theremin takes it into the lab... very fun!
Number Six? ***
A bit like a slow and sludgy "Boss" (Rumblers) at times, "Number Six?" is ominous and whirly too. The keys create uneasy weirdness, as does the delay on the drums.
Mant! ****
Some really cool effects and muted rhythm guitar over a straight surf beat, with long guitar leaning on echo. This is sci-fi surf sporting an infectious rhythm track. The rum solo engages as echoed guitar loops slow rises while the drums fade out. Very cool!
El Supersonico ***
Semi sludgy, "El Supersonico" plods along at a modest pace while tortured guitar menaces. It has a decidedly European sound, amp with reverb crashes. There's drama and danger here.

E all'improvviso, come un concertato, capire cosa si dedicano la loro vita. E lo fanno. È Mario Bava, Dario Argento O, o Lucio Fulci e altri del gruppo che nei prossimi anni diventerà la scena nella vasca da bagno "Psycho" ancora e ancora.

Quando gli italiani di fronte alla cultura americana - particolarmente popolare, poi fare gli spaghetti. Hanno un comfort a fare che il risultato sorvola da America e l'Italia, ed è qualcosa di speciale: è spaghetti. Blockbuster trovato gli spaghetti allora, come la Tzeimsmpontikos "Chrysodaktylos" con film eurospy (vedi il nostro omaggio e "La sconosciuta film in Grecia - Part One). L'Hitchcock Psycho ispirato spaghetti orrore, l'orrore spaghetti, oppure il giallo. Naturalmente abbiamo spaghetti-western. Luogo comune per tutti i film spaghetti è la colonna sonora stupefacente da compositori quali eccezionali (il nostro preferito), Gianni Ferrio, Luis Bacalov, o Giorgio Gaslini, o Franco Micalizzi, di corso, Ennio Morricone, Piero Umiliani il ... Tutti ha dato alla luce come i conigli con le melodie originali sono vestiti spaghetti, rendendo tutta la scuola.

Diplomato alla scuola di compositori spaghetti e sale scure del cinema è Massimiliano "Mamo" Bocchio. Sembra essere un fan, salvo quanto sopra, e una specie non polyprosexan-film italiano sugli alieni. Gli alieni hanno invaso il film americani b-dai primi anni '50, creando un exogiinomania "che durò per tutto il decimo degli anni '50 e il materiale fornito ai risultati sci-fi. Questi film hanno lo stesso schema: alieni visitare la Terra, di solito con stati d'animo selvaggio e suoni del theremin. (Tra i pali si trova il film "Il giorno che la Terra si è fermato" non perché era meno ingenuo, ma perché cercare di passare un pace-messaggio di amore per la Guerra Fredda, e l'originalità che gli alieni erano ostili.)

Il Massimiliano "Mamo" Bocchio viene a insegnarci il surf spaghetti! Serfaristes melodie orchestrali, molto cinematografico, con il Dr. Mabuse dancing Embrace the Frankenstein e Fu Manchu, e tutti noi amava volare nello spazio. Agenti 006 e 008 fanno parte maschera con un whisky e soda e competere con i pistoleros sporco. Tzamarismata che quando si sente non è il pensiero di b-movies. Egli chiama la musica di surf spaghetti Outer Space, e definire il nostro amore. Kommatia dinamite!

Il legume Docteur e Surfwerks è sostanzialmente Massimiliano, un one-man band. Lanciato nel 1993 come Klänge e album fino al 1998 per l'italiano Minus Habens Records e Cleopatra Records negli Stati Uniti. Poi venne una crisi nervosa e ha vissuto due (2) rapiti dagli alieni, torna nel 2005 con la cifra "Mother Morphine Garage Band".

Il Docteur Legume et Les Surfwerks è l'ultimo dei protzekt. L'unità (di produzione propria) suona tutti gli strumenti, chitarra, basso, batteria, organo e sintetizzatore.

Interesse sono gli spettacoli dal vivo. La musica suoni dagli altoparlanti, mentre lui non video. È consuetudine avere una scena che gioca theremin e percussioni. In ogni caso le rivolte pubblico. Giusto un anno fa dopo un'overdose di antibiotici, mucolitici, film trash anni'60 e complice la benedizione ricevuta in sogno dall'imprescindibile Bob Dobbs della Sacra Chiesa Del Subgenio (TM) il sottoscritto ha partorito il malvagio ipnotista-surf conosciuto come Docteur Legume et Les Surfwerks.
Nato inizialmente in sordina come "studio mono-band", questo baby-killer è diventato nell'arco di un'anno un freak pronto a suonare Live in collaborazione con i suoi inseparabili "Surfwerks" per performance grindhouse ad alto potenziale cinematografico.
Che posso dire ?
Grazie al feedback sempre positivo delle comunità YouTube / Facebook / SurfGuitar101, grazie a chi mi legge in questo momento, e grazie a te baby, non ce l'avrei mai fatta senza il tuo aiuto.
